Sexual dimorphism in shell morphology of mollusks of the genus <i>Viviparus</i> – important objects of water resources of Ukraine

Bioindication assessment of water bodies Ukraine can be carried out using the ratio males and females mollusks genus Viviparus . In practice, it is very convenient to determine sex by differences in their shell. Male female freshwater snails viviparus (Linnaeus, 1758) V. contectus (Millet, 1813) are shown have reliable shell morphology depending on age. There almost no sexual dimorphism morphometrics indices aged one three years. After years life, mature significantly larger width, higher body whorl, size aperture. Females at age two five may differentiated from relationship mean width height, which statistically significant than males. This difference explained different mantle section genital organs male female. The obtained results should taken into consideration establishing viviparid snails.
